We Dance, We Sing, We Dress: For God's Glory Alone
Share
As believers, we live in a world filled with flashing lights, viral dances, catchy songs, and ever-changing fashion trends that constantly demand our attention. But as Christians, we are called to be set apart. This doesn’t mean we live joyless lives — in fact, we do dance, we do sing, and we do care about how we present ourselves. The difference? We do it for the glory of God, not for the approval or entertainment of others.
🎵 We Sing to Worship, Not to Entertain
In today’s culture, singing is often about showing off talent or gaining applause. But for Christians, singing is sacred. It’s how we express our love, gratitude, and reverence to the One who gave us breath.
“Sing to the Lord, all the earth; proclaim his salvation day after day.”
— 1 Chronicles 16:23“Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.”
— Psalm 150:6
As parents, we teach our children early on that their voices are instruments of worship. It’s not about going viral — it’s about going vertical, lifting our voices to Heaven.
💃 We Dance in Worship, Not for the World
Yes, dancing is in the Bible — but it’s always a response to God’s goodness. It’s never about impressing others or drawing attention to self.
“Let them praise his name with dancing and make music to him with timbrel and harp.”
— Psalm 149:3
“David, wearing a linen ephod, danced before the Lord with all his might.”
— 2 Samuel 6:14
As a parent, it can be hard when our children see their peers dancing to songs that don't honor God or copying trends that feel off. But this is where discipleship starts. We gently guide them back to truth: "We dance because God has given us joy, not because we want to be seen."
👗 We Dress with Dignity, Not for Attention
Modesty isn’t just about rules — it’s about the heart. We teach our daughters (and sons!) that how we dress reflects who we follow. Are we chasing worldly validation, or are we walking in kingdom identity?
“She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.”
— Proverbs 31:25“I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety… but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God.”
— 1 Timothy 2:9–10
As Christian parents, we battle an overwhelming culture of exposure and trends. There’s pressure to “fit in” — even from within the church. But our calling is higher: we clothe our children not just in fabric, but in faith, truth, and dignity.
👨👩👧👦 Raising Children Set Apart is Hard — But Worth It
Let’s be honest: it’s not easy to raise godly kids in a world that celebrates self. Saying "no" to certain songs, outfits, or dances might lead to tears, pushback, or even judgment from others.
We’ve all asked ourselves:
- “Will my child feel left out?”
- “Am I being too strict?”
- “Why does it feel like we’re the only family saying no?”
But take heart. God sees your efforts. Every time you model worship instead of performance, reverence instead of rebellion, modesty instead of attention-seeking — you are planting seeds that will grow into holiness.
“Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.”
— Proverbs 22:6
Keep going, mama. Keep standing, dad. You're not raising followers of the world — you're raising worshipers of the King.
🌿 Let It Be All for Him
To the world, this lifestyle seems strange. Why not just dance for fun? Why dress so modestly? Why not sing that trending song?
But we know:
We weren’t made for this world.
We were made to glorify God in everything.
“So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”
— 1 Corinthians 10:31
At Seedlings of Heaven, we’re here to support families who want to raise children that shine the light of Jesus in every part of life. From the songs they sing, to the way they move, to the clothes they wear — may it all say:
“This is for God alone.”
